Sunday Stills: Fruits

Here are my Sunday stills even if somewhat late.

I used photoshop to make the images interesting.  Here is my take:

Sunday Stills: The letter “G”

Sorry for my absence, college has made the days busier.  Despite having a photo class, I don’t think I have been as dedicated in taking photos.

I am also getting ready to start two new photo projects based on the human figure, something I find intimidated.  But because it is an assignment, I have to do it!

Anyway, for Sunday Stills I chose green and graffiti for the letter G:

Thanks for stopping by!

Another photo with the cell phone.

Lets see where I can take this!

Cell Phone Photography?!

I think this is my next calling.

I don’t have an Iphone, but an LG Lotus.

The idea of cell phone photography came from a combination of things.  When I returned from Russia, I got the awesome weird-shaped LG Lotus and took several trips in Downtown San Antonio with my best friend who fell in love with my phone.  She took this real awesome photo with the phone, it is currently my screen saver.  Suddenly, I realized the camera had potential.

I continued snapping shots to show my family and friends things that were going on in my life, like the various crazy snowstorms up north in Maine, but also things that I wanted to purchase and needed an opinion on.

But this is what topped it off.  My first photography assignment was documentary photography and I chose to photograph classrooms around campus.  My idea was to have triptychs , one photo shot with my Nikon and two complimenting it shot with my cell phone at different angles.  But I had issues with the printer on campus and gave up on that idea.  I had to have at least 6 images and ended up with 7.  Five were with the Nikon and 2 were with my cell phone.  During the critique people were attracted to the cell phone images and said they were the better ones (could be the fact that the image was smaller than the Nikon pics and were presented differently).  The thing is I did not tell them until the end I took the photos with the cell.   I was surprised, I expected otherwise.

I had the intention of investigating the idea that it is not the camera that makes the photographer, but the eye that takes the picture.  This here can be an indicator that quality of the camera isn’t necessarily the indicator of a good photo.

Now I am going to explore this idea further with the Nikon and LG Lotus.  I’m gonna duke it out to see who comes out on top!
